This is a little old but it links to a new trial of Optus 4G for fixed wireless service. Telstra announce a little while back that they are looking to this new extended LTE but once again Optus have beat them to it.
The technology allows very high transfer speeds and is the full LTE rather than the cut down LTE rolled out an inoperation by Telstra and now Vodafone.
This should prove for some very fast transfer speeds on phones that can support the technology as well as use for wireless hotspot and fixed wireless services where some may not have the option of installing fixed lines.
The service is on in 4 capital cities and has 55 sites in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Canberra as of September 2013.
