Microsoft has had amazing sales of it’s new Xbox one console but unfortunately plaiged by issues with noises coming from the unit.
It has been found that the Blu-Ray drive is the culprit. The nukbers of users affected is quite small but it is brining back some bad memories of the red ring of death issues experienced with the Xbox 360.
Microsoft has acknowledged the issue and stated it will send out replacement consoles
In the Appreneur Challenge Microsoft are giving away some amazing prizes simply for making some apps for Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone.
Prizes include 25 Xbox One console and a major prize of a Surface Pro and “Money-can’t-buy experiences”.
With higher conversion rates and some awesome hardware and these awesome prizes, there really is no excuse for not having a go at making some awesome apps for the Windows platform.
Microsoft demo’ed the new XBOX Kinect sensor and in the process caused a bit of an uproar with the device being able to descern a “buldge” at the users crotch. Calls of NSA spying have been made but really, do you think the NSA cares about the size of your package even if they were to somehow hack into your Xbox ONE and spy on you? Microsoft have aparently listened and provided an XBOX One option without the Kinect sensor.
Micorosft have release a video detailing the natural language voice controls available on the new XBOX One….and hoping soon on Windows Phone possibly via the Cortana system.
Microsoft have just released a bunch of videos in anticipation of the launch on Thursday Nov 21.
From the xbox blog:
As we announced last week, we’re celebrating this Friday’s launch of the Xbox One by throwing massive events for fans in dozens of cities across the world, including London, Sydney, Paris and Toronto among many others. While we look forward to seeing thousands of passionate Xbox fans at these midnight launches, we realize that not everyone can make it out to join in on the fun. With that in mind, we’ve decided to bring the biggest celebration of all, the Xbox One Countdown To Launch show, directly to you live beginning at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT on Thursday Nov. 21.

Sony has reported that the PS4 has sold over 1 million units over the first 24 hours of sale in the US.
This brings Sony closer to it’s goal of 5 million units in the end of it’s fical year in March.
Sony face stiff competetion with the new XBOX One launching very shortly and including the Kinect and exclusive games. Microsoft have really ruled the roost here with record sales of both the XBOX and Kinect and Sony have a tough job catching up.
Neither company has released a new console since the PS3 in 2006 and the gaming industry is thirsty ofr some new action.
Since I obviously do not have one to test, I am only going to summarise and link to the Gizmodo review of the new PS4 consol eby Sony.
The specs read more simlar to a PC or Xbox console and the controllers include a cool little touch pad device now.
The box itself is an angular monlith structure and quite bulky.
